Like many other properties in the area, the kitchen and pantry of the Long Beach Soup Kitchen were badly damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The kitchen was forced to close for nearly 5 months as we focused on fundraising to cover the cost of new kitchen equipment and rebuilding expenses.
Rebuilding support from the Long Beach community
Our fundraising appeal was met with heartwarming response by area  individuals and organizations.  Especially generous was the donation from Lions International through the Long Beach Lions Club. We are also deeply grateful to the many local contractors who donated their time and expertise.  Businesses providing services included John MacDonald Plumbing and Heating, Z-Best, Refinements Construction, HKH Construction, Murdy & All Good Electric, Fire Command and Long Beach Savvy Auto & Tire.
A professional grade facility
Our rebuilt kitchen is up and running. Featuring new, restaurant-quality
stoves, ovens, sinks and a walk-in freezer. This set-up makes us more
able than ever before to fulfill our mission of providing the less fortunate with a nutritious hot meal, served with respect and good cheer.
